National Forensic Sciences University
The National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU), Gandhinagar, formerly Gujarat Forensic Sciences University, is an Institution of National Importance under the Ministry of Home Affairs, and the world's first university dedicated to forensic and investigative science. NFSU recognises external research centres where doctoral and applied forensic research can be carried out.
A recognised research centre
Axxonet is a recognised research centre affiliated to NFSU, providing an instrumented environment where NFSU-registered researchers and doctoral scholars pursue work in forensic neuroscience, electrophysiology and cognitive assessment under joint academic supervision.
The Axxonet Research Laboratory
At the centre of this collaboration is the Axxonet Research Laboratory (ARL), a multi-disciplinary neuroscience lab bridging technology development and clinical services, with research spanning EEG, event-related potentials, polysomnography and neuromodulation, alongside computerised brain-function therapy and clinical assessment.
Forensic neuroscience & BEOS
A core thread of the joint work is Brain Electrical Oscillation Signature (BEOS) profiling, the neurocognitive method for detecting the remembrance of experienced events. NFSU-affiliated researchers collaborate with the Axxonet team on the science of remembrance versus recognition that underpins forensic brain-signature analysis.
Doctoral & collaborative research
The centre supports PhD scholars and collaborative studies drawing NFSU faculty and Axxonet researchers together, extending applied forensic-neuroscience research from the laboratory bench toward field-deployable investigative tools.
Published research
Work from the Axxonet Research Laboratory has been published across peer-reviewed neuroscience journals, from the process of remembrance and BEOS to diagnostic EEG signal patterns. A selection is linked here.
